INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

IWD is an event close to my heart. This year, I am very excited to be able to use this blog as my platform to celebrate women and to promote advocacies that empower and support women. I dedicate this to my Mama, who is my first and forever female role model, and to my daughter who I hope will read this blog someday.

Back at work, I’ve always looked forward to the the annual IWD events, sponsored by our female executives. These events allowed me to meet very inspiring women, not only in the organization, but also in the local scenes and in our global network. I got to meet the likes of Maria Ressa, currently CEO of news website Rappler, award-winning journalist most known as CNN reporter for 2 decades and lead investigative reporter for terrorism in Asia. I met the 3 Filipino women who reached the top of Mt Everest in 2007. I met advocates, authors, journalists, CEOs, and entrepreneurs. These women have empowered me even beyond the workplace, and continue to inspire me up to now.

When I took a sabbatical from work 4 years ago, I couldn’t think of ways to continue this annual tradition. I was limited to writing my thoughts in my journal and sharing a few on my personal Facebook. Here’s one I’ve written in IWD 2014, which has finally found a home in this blog.

  2. That’s wonderful. If it’s an existing post, you can send me a link and I’ll feature it here. If you’d like to write a new one for the She-logy series, you can send me your email address and I’ll send you invitation to be Contributor/guest blogger. You can write as many posts as you like. The more women we celebrate, the better! 🙂 Looking forward…

  3. I first heard of The Red Tent Temple through a google circle I belong to. The woman who began this ‘movement’ is Deanna Lam. Her website is: http://www.deannalam.com/ and she has written a book about it, which can be found in Amazon. It’s about creating a ‘red tent’ in every community for women and girls to go to and share with each other. There is a movie about it called, “Things we don’t talk about.” Youtube hosts Red Tent TV, if you are interested I can get more information about it all. I’m looking into starting one in my own community.

  4. The LaserGrip intaslltaion on the M&P line (excluding the Shield) is by a laser enabled version of the replaceable backstrap. Very nicely done and looks/feels great. So that’s one polymer gun where the LaserGrip is well integrated. The Shield uses the trigger guard solution.
