Zen

Portland’s Japanese Garden

While cleaning up my camera roll from the recent trip, I saw this photo and I was instantly taken into a state of reflection.

This week was filled with chaos. My body clock was messed up as the kids struggle with jet lag. (Unexpected, given it was only a 2-hour difference.) My to-do list is bursting at the seams. The house screams for a detox as the clutter grows exponentially. I feel exhausted before I have even begun.

Clearly, I need my own detox. This photo is just the reminder I was meant to get.

The water is calm and clear. The surface, still. The reflection, sharp. Breathe in balance. Steady. Stable. Focused. Breathe out imbalance. Let go of excess, of burdens.

The water connects to the waterfall. The waterfall to the earth. The earth to the trees. The trees to the air. Breathe in the air. Be part of the connection. Be one with the elements. Breathe in harmony. Breathe out toxic relationships.

Balance and harmony create peace. Breathe in peace. Breathe out conflict. Breathe in peace. Breathe out frustration. Breathe in peace. Breathe out. Breathe in… Breathe out…
