Are You Joining The Courage Chronicle?

What is The Courage Chronicle?

Initially, it is my public diary for 2015, as I journey towards making it my Year of Courage. Initially, I planned to share my stories in the blog in hopes of encouraging some readers to take the plunge, too.

However (and to my utter delight!), it is growing into a blog challenge as other bloggers are letting me know their interest to join in. And every Like, every Comment of “I would like to join you in that challenge” and “I would love to be part of your courage chronicles. It sounds very fascinating to me” and “here’s hoping to get much inspiration from you.” and “thanks, I needed to hear this”, and every story shared “I want to conquer my fear of…” and “thank you for inspiring me with your post“, I am actually the one who gets the inspiration and the courage. So thank you all so much for your words and for your enthusiasm. I am all the more inspired to do this journey right. 🙂

How To Join?

Shortest way to put it would be in the words of Eleanor Roosevelt. “DO ONE THING EVERY DAY THAT SCARES YOU.” That’s it.

To join the TCC way (and I hope you would!):

  1. Make the decision to make 2015 a Year of Courage. Too much? Make a decision to do at least one thing that scares you. Making the decision is half the journey.
  2. Share your story with the rest of us. You’ll never know the ripple your story can create unless you put it out there. Comment here or in any of the TCC posts, or better yet, post it in your blog (and tag me) so I can reblog it here.
  3. Know the enemy. What is it you are afraid of?
  4. Take the first step. Take a photo, too, while you’re at it. And share again with us here or in your blog (the drill).
  5. Share with us any quotes, anecdotes, photos, poems, anything really, that inspired you to press on with your Courage journey.
  6. At the end of the year, I’m positively declaring that we are all going to press on until December, share your last TCC post for the year. The most important post. “List of Things That No Longer Scare Me” And we are all going to celebrate our new, braver selves, together!

Let’s make 2015 a Year of Courage. Let’s spread this spirit of Courage to our own communities, virtual or otherwise, and create a Culture of Courage. Let’s make our dreams happen! Dream without fear. Share without shame. 🙂

  1. I absolutely love this idea, and I am definitely going to be more aware of the courageous choices I can make throughout my life. This fall I am doing something very courageous, pursuing my dream of musical theatre on the opposite side of the United States. I’m glad to see that I’m not alone!

  2. Bravo to you! That must be pretty exciting and terrifying. Ok, that wasn’t helpful. hehe. Didn’t mean to scare you. But, it’s ok to be scared to. If your dream doesn’t scare you, it’s not big enough. All the best to you! Definitely not alone. Keep us posted with your journey.

  3. Amazing! I love this idea. I am completing an album and putting my music forward in a way I’ve been too scared to do up until now. I know this year will require me to have a lot of courage to work all the plans I have. I love this idea that we could all come together and spur each other on! Thanks for the inspiration and looking forward to hearing everyone’s journey!!

    1. Wow, that’s an awesome dream! If it is terrifying and amazing, then it’s a great dream. If it is a great dream, it is worth all the hardwork. 😊 Thank you for sharing! There is magic in putting our heart’s desire out there. All the best on your journey! Keep us posted!👍🙏

  4. A fabulous idea.
I try to push my boundaries as much as possible. It’s all too easy to just stay within our safety zone.
It’s good to feel that fear and the elation afterwards, when we’ve mastered our fear.
Good luck with your ventures and I’ll pop back to see how you’re getting on.

    1. That’s true. It’s too easy to say, and harder to do. It helps when I read about the stories of other bloggers and how they’re taking the challenge on. Keeps me on my toes. Can’t back out now coz someone else is taking on the challenge, I tell myself. 🙂 I hope you try it too and tell me about it. There’s a February Courage Challenge just starting 🙂 Thanks for your thoughts!

  5. I would like to join in the way that I will remember the question ” what am I afraid of” ? And then try to overcome something that holds me back. I don’t think I can do it every day. It’s like I need time of recovery after the brave things

    1. Doing a scary thing everyday is really difficult esp when tackling with serious fears. It can be draining. Your approach works, too! Just being constantly conscious whether there’s an opportunity to practice courage or a fear to deal with, that’s already a difference-maker. I have the monthly prompt as a suggestion on how to continue exercising the courage “muscles”, sort of a theme. But feel free to choose the method that works best for you. And tied to your Integrity challenge, too. The goal is –at the end of the year we have a list of things that no longer scare us.😊 I’m glad you’re joining in! Looking forward to read about your stories. Just leave a comment or pingback to any of the courage posts.
